The South Cheshire 20 is a single lap 20 mile road race through the countryside surrounding Shavington and Crewe. Starting outside Shavington Leisure Centre, the route heads through a succession of rural villages before returning to finish on the sports field.
The course is known for its undulating and frequently hilly profile, taking runners along mainly quiet country lanes through Weston, Englesea Brook, Betley, Wrinehill, Audley and Barthomley. Its demanding distance and rolling terrain make the race a popular endurance challenge and a useful test for runners preparing for an autumn marathon.
Organised by South Cheshire Harriers, the race forms part of the North Staffs Road Runners Association series. The course is measured, marshalled and supported by water stations, with finishers receiving a commemorative medal, running top and goody bag.
