Ludlow 10 Ready To Go To Town Again
The scenic, summer race is under new management and warming up for a Saturday evening of run and fun
The Ludlow10 is ready to hit the streets, woods and trails of this medieval market town as runners of all ages experience history on the move this July. They can expect to ‘feel the burn’ from the Donkey Steps which are part of a 10K course with a few twists and turns.
Andali Events have picked up the baton from Be Endurance and are organising the 10K along with a short course 5K and Youth race in a particularly attractive part of Shropshire.
Lying close to the border with Wales, the 11th century town contains more than 500 listed buildings from the Norman period onwards including the Buttercross, Ludlow Castle, St Laurence’s Church and Ludlow College which is the venue for the start/finish of the race.
Ludlow has a reputation for food as well as architecture. The South Shropshire town is a magnet for visitors to its annual food and drink festival as well as bistros, restaurants, pubs and cafes. There will be food available at the finish in the form of pastries and snacks from Bread2Bake and plenty of places to go for a post-race bite to eat.
The organisers are keen to attract a wide range of runners and have included a 5K plus Youth race alongside the 10K. Participants in all three will be supported every step of the way.
Let’s talk about the route. It is mainly on closed roads - which are always a vote winner - apart from a 1.5K section through Whitcliffe Common on a mix of grass and footpaths - an undulating part of the course not least because of the climb up the Donkey Steps that'll get the blood pumping!
Pick up your hard-earned medal and goodies then celebrate with a night on the town. Spend a Saturday evening with fellow runners in a delightful location and bask in your achievement.
