Shrewsbury 5K is organised by Run Cheshire & Gogledd Cymru and takes place on the floodlit cycle circuit at Shrewsbury Sports Village.
The flat, sheltered and traffic free course follows just over five laps of the smooth, purpose built circuit. Its fast profile and absence of traffic provide excellent conditions for runners chasing a personal best, while the compact course creates an exciting atmosphere for competitors and spectators.
The event features three graded races, with runners allocated to their start according to predicted finishing time. This brings together competitors of similar abilities and helps create competitive racing throughout the evening.
The races are chip timed and held under UK Athletics rules, with participants required to be at least 11 years old. Cash prizes are awarded to the leading male and female runners.
