The Shanghai Marathon takes runners on a 42K road race through the heart of one of China’s most distinctive cities. Starting beside the Huangpu River at the Bund, the course travels through central Shanghai before reaching the finish at Xujiahui Sports Park.
Runners experience a varied city backdrop along the route, passing areas including Nanjing Road, Jing'an Temple, Huaihai Road, Xintiandi and the Huangpu riverside. The large field and city centre setting create the atmosphere of a major international marathon, with support and facilities provided throughout the course.
Holding World Athletics Platinum Label status, the Shanghai Marathon has established itself as one of China’s leading road races and attracts runners from around the world. Its combination of a major city course, waterfront sections and some of Shanghai’s best known districts makes it a standout fixture on the international marathon calendar.
