Village Vibes At The Shadwell 10K

Local club race brings runners together in the Leeds countryside...

A well loved fixture in the Leeds running scene is back this summer as the Shadwell 10K returns for 2026.

Set for Saturday 20 June, the race is organised by Shadwell Runners and offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that reflects the spirit of the club behind it. Based around Shadwell Primary School, the event keeps things local while delivering a rewarding challenge for runners of all levels.

The 10K route heads out into the surrounding countryside, mixing quiet lanes, footpaths and trail sections to create a varied course that keeps runners engaged throughout. With a few climbs along the way, it is not a flat course, but that only adds to the sense of achievement at the finish.

What sets the Shadwell 10K apart is its community feel. From the volunteers helping on the day to the support out on the course, it is very much a race built by runners for runners. That welcoming approach continues to attract a mix of club athletes, social runners and those taking on the distance closer to home.

With numbers kept deliberately manageable, the race retains its friendly character, so those planning to take part are encouraged to secure a place early.

For anyone looking for a summer 10K with a strong local identity and a bit of variety underfoot, the Shadwell 10K offers a great option in the North.
