The Cape Town Marathon takes place in Cape Town, South Africa, and is one of Africa’s leading road marathons. Starting and finishing in the Green Point area near Cape Town Stadium, the route showcases many of the city's most recognisable landmarks while offering runners a chance to experience one of the world's most celebrated urban settings.

The Marathon follows a predominantly fast road course through central Cape Town and surrounding districts, passing coastal sections, historic neighbourhoods and areas with views of Table Mountain. The route combines city running with striking natural scenery, creating a distinctive road race experience unique to the South African coast.

As Africa's first Abbott World Marathon Majors event, the Cape Town Marathon has become a significant fixture on the international marathon calendar, attracting runners from around the world to the Mother City.
