Salisbury Plain Winter Edition is a challenging trail running event organised by And-Over Trail Events in Wiltshire. Set across the vast military training landscape of Salisbury Plain, the event takes runners through open countryside, established tracks and rugged terrain, where winter weather can add to the difficulty.
Runners can choose between a Half Marathon and Marathon, following marked routes along footpaths, byways and hard packed tracks. Steep climbs, exposed sections and muddy conditions provide a demanding test of endurance, with the open landscape offering little shelter from the elements. Trail shoes are strongly recommended for both distances.
The event includes well stocked aid stations with drinks and sweet and savoury food, marshals at key crossings and medical support along the course. Every finisher receives a medal, with prizes awarded to the first three male and female finishers. The combination of challenging terrain and unpredictable winter conditions makes this a distinctive trail running event.
