The Rising Sun Country Park 10K Trail Run explores the varied landscapes of this North Tyneside country park, around five miles from Newcastle city centre. The route winds through grasslands, woodland and the nature reserve, passing a variety of forest habitats and offering plenty of natural scenery along the way.
Runners follow a mixture of marked and unmarked trails, with steep inclines, wet patches and potentially muddy sections adding to the challenge. The varied terrain makes this a rewarding 10K for experienced trail runners while remaining accessible to those looking to move from road running onto more adventurous off road routes. The event is also canicross friendly, with one controlled dog permitted per runner.
The course is fully marked for the event and supported by marshals, with live chip timing and online results. Runners also receive event photography, a finish line snack and merchandise, with every finisher earning a medal after completing the 10K course.
