Paris Versailles La Grande Classique is a landmark 16.2K road race linking two of France's most recognisable sights. The point to point route starts on Quai Jacques Chirac at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and travels west from Paris before finishing on Avenue de Paris in front of the Palace of Versailles.
Runners follow a varied course through Issy les Moulineaux, Meudon, Vélizy and Viroflay, with the Côte des Gardes providing the signature challenge around 6K. From there, the route continues along the Route Royale and through wooded surroundings before reaching the final kilometres on the broad Avenue de Paris and the memorable approach towards Versailles.
The event welcomes up to 25,000 runners and provides refreshment stations at several points along the course, electronic chip timing and entertainment from orchestras and bands. Its unusual 16.2K distance, challenging profile and spectacular journey from the Eiffel Tower to the Palace of Versailles have made it one of France's distinctive road running events.
