The PIM Running Festival takes place at the historic Crathes Castle Estate near Banchory, with a half marathon, 5K and 1.5K children's race. All three events start and finish on the lawn in front of Crathes Castle, providing an impressive setting within the National Trust for Scotland estate.
Half marathon runners follow a scenic route predominantly on quiet country roads to the north and east of Crathes, heading towards the Drum Castle estate before looping back towards the finish. A couple of level off road farm track sections add variety to the 13.1 mile course, while the 5K remains within the grounds of Crathes Castle for a shorter running challenge.
The 1.5K kids race also takes place within the castle grounds and provides an event for primary school aged runners. Finishers across the festival receive a medal and event T shirt, while entry fees support the conservation work of the National Trust for Scotland at its historic properties and landscapes.
