Lisa leads across race distances in BTR Virtual Series
Top vegan athlete Lisa Gawthorne shows her versatility in the BTR Virtual Race Series
Multi-talented runner Lisa Gawthorne is leading the women’s 1 Mile, 10K and 10 Mile races at the end of the first month in the BTR Virtual Series. Outstanding performances are keeping her on target during the coronavirus outbreak as the series picks up the pace.
Lisa is a member of Liverpool Pembroke & Sefton Harriers & AC and a Team GB Duathlete who has competed for her age group at European and World Championships. Vegan Runners UK is her second claim club. She is a successful entrepreneur, helping to set up Bravura Foods - a leading vegan food company whose well-known plant brands can be found in over 4,000 stores throughout the UK.
And Lisa has been relishing the challenge of the BTR Virtual Race Series which offers runners of all abilities who aim to beat their times at a variety of distances - 1 Mile/5K/10K/10 Mile and Half Marathon – and see how they compare against others.
The format is providing a competitive aspect for those runners looking for a PB; alternately, it helps to motivate anyone struggling in lockdown or people new to the sport and looking to try one of these distances for the first time. These virtual races are taking place from June to August and at the end of the three months, male and female winners will be presented with trophies.
Lisa Gawthorne posted 6:15 for the 1 Mile, 42:24 at 10K and 1:11:11 in the 10 Miler.
Lisa is a fan of BTR Liverpool and keen to show solidarity with them saying: “I’ve been running in the BTR virtual races to support local business in the uncharted times of the coronavirus pandemic. I try and do as many races as I can throughout the year and enjoy BTR events across the North West. This is a good way of supporting them whilst keeping me focused on fitness goals and whilst we don’t have mass races on the agenda.”
