The Lamplighter 40 is a 40 mile night ultra marathon in the North York Moors National Park, starting and finishing in Goathland. The circular route follows trails, forestry tracks and open moorland paths through the landscape of the North York Moors during the shortest night of the year.
The event runs from sunset to sunrise, creating a true dusk to dawn ultra running experience across rugged countryside and remote trails. Runners pass trig points, cairns and remote checkpoint locations while navigating varied terrain with expansive moorland views throughout the course.
