The SilverBackTrails Lamplighter 40 is an overnight ultra running adventure that challenges participants to travel across the North York Moors between sunset and sunrise. Starting and finishing at Goathland Village Hall, the route links a series of checkpoints including triangulation pillars, cairns, crosses and remote moorland landmarks, creating a memorable journey through the night.
Runners can take part as a solo entrant or in pairs, navigating a course that combines established tracks, forestry trails and open moorland terrain. GPX files, maps and mandatory navigation equipment are required, while checkpoint support provides refreshments, snacks and an indoor stop with hot food during the night.
Designed as a true dusk to dawn experience, the event begins when the Lamplighter appears at sunset and continues until sunrise. Suitable for both experienced ultra runners and those tackling their first night ultra, the Lamplighter 40 combines endurance, navigation and adventure in one of Yorkshire's most atmospheric trail running challenges.
