The SilverBackTrails Lamplighter 20 is a unique overnight trail running challenge that takes runners across the North York Moors from sunset through to sunrise. Starting and finishing at Goathland Village Hall, the event follows a scenic route linking triangulation pillars, moorland tracks, forestry trails and remote checkpoints under the cover of darkness.
Participants can enter as a solo runner or as a pair, navigating their way around the course using GPX files, maps and compulsory navigation equipment. The route combines established tracks with open moorland terrain, creating an adventure that rewards both endurance and navigation skills.
Timed to coincide with the longest days of the year, the event begins at sunset and finishes at sunrise, offering a true dusk to dawn experience. With checkpoint support, hot food at the finish and a finisher medal for all successful participants, the Lamplighter 20 provides a memorable night running challenge in the heart of the North York Moors.
