Jo Pavey ambassador for new Peterborough Marathon

Five-time Olympian Jo Pavey has been announced as a race ambassador for the new Peterborough Marathon on Sunday 14 April. She will be supporting a fast, scenic race on a PB-potential course.

The appointment of the international athlete and runner is a coup for organisers Sublime Racing who hope this will inspire people to enter and challenge themselves over the 26.2 mile distance. The mainly flat, 95% traffic-free course is one of several attractions of this big city event.

Starting at 9am near to the race HQ at the Peterborough Marriott Hotel, the runners will head into the centre and through the attractive Ferry Meadows within Nene Park. Once there, they pass the imposing 12th century Cathedral before joining the Green Wheel cycle pathways then continuing alongside the River Nene. They then turn towards the finish that is also located near to the Marriott Hotel.

There is over £500 in prize money and trophies for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female and age category prizes. Every finisher receives a bespoke medal, technical T-shirt and goody bag plus the chance to celebrate their achievements at the post-race party at the Marriott Hotel.

Jo Pavey is delighted that Peterborough is hosting a marathon saying: “It’s brilliant runners will be able to experience running the event in this great city and I’m sure it is going to become very popular.” Jo's current focus is on qualifying for Tokyo 2020 and her sixth Olympic Games in a row.

Entries are open for the 2019 Peterborough Marathon. Visit the Sublime Racing website for more details.
