Hopton 10K

Hop On To Hopton

A great introduction to trail racing is on offer at this West Yorks event...

Those looking to get into trail racing this year would be wise to consider West Yorkshire's Hopton 10K which will take place for the fourth time on 6 October this year. Runners will enjoy a race through beautiful woodlands and quiet roads around the village of Hopton.

The 10K's route has some short challenging climbs and includes woodland trails, bridleways, footpaths and quiet roads in and around the small village of Hopton near Mirfield. Organisers say: "Given the time of year, depending on the weather, there may be a few muddy patches!

"The woods and fields around Hopton are a great place to run offering some great variety as well as great views over the Calder Valley. We thought it would make a great place to hold an annual race. So grab your mucky trainers and get involved!"

In 2023 there was a new Hopton 10K course record for Simon Courtney who clocked 38:24 - amazing indeed as the conditions were particularly wet and slippery.

All proceeds from the race support Hopton Primary School, since its inception, the race has raised over £11,000 that goes directly to pay for resources for the school.

Those taking part will benefit from chip timing, finishers t-shirt, cafe, and free parking for around 70 cars as well as a fantastic, well organised race with varied terrain - can't say better than that.
