This race has been organised as a non-profit charity event, celebrating the life of Ben Campbell and supporting the UK Sepsis Trust who are committed to increasing public awareness and supporting those affected by Sepsis.
Ben Campbell, a friend of ours, who grew up in Thirsk, tragically died at the age of 36 in Jan 2015, very unexpectedly, from pneumococcal pneumonia.
To celebrate his life we have organised an annual 10k trail run at Kilburn woods. This year will mark the 6th time running the event.
Ben loved a challenge and it is for this reason that this idyllic location has been chosen. Not only does it encompass the true beauty of the North Yorkshire countryside but the terrain itself is a challenge to run on, we are sure you will truly enjoy it.
The course is fully way marked and marshalled, both hilly and muddy in places with breath-taking scenery. It presents itself to both seasoned and beginner runners aged 18 years or over.
There are a limited number of 200 entries available.
Medals will be awarded for the first 3 Males and first 3 Females, as well as a trophy for the out-right winner of the race.
Parking is available at the Visitor Centre (which is a good walk/jog – you can use this as your warm up), and also in the Car Park opposite the top of the White Horse steps.
This is a small event, so the atmosphere is incredibly friendly, and everyone is extremely supportive. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll be invited to join us on some route recces which give you chance to suss out the area and prepare yourself for race day.
T-shirts are included in the entry fee!
