The Highland Fling is an 85K point to point trail ultramarathon following the southern section of Scotland's iconic West Highland Way from Milngavie to Tyndrum. Passing through Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, the route features around 2,300 metres of ascent on predominantly trail terrain. A 53 mile relay is also held on the same course, allowing teams to share the challenge across four legs.
Now in its eighteenth edition, the event is a UTMB Qualifier and hosts the 2026 Scottish Ultra Trail Championships. Runners benefit from a fully waymarked course, live chip timing, luggage transport, drop bag stations, post race food, showers, massage, official photography and transport options between the start and finish.
The Highland Fling is one of Scotland's premier trail ultramarathons, attracting experienced trail runners from across the UK and beyond. Its fast point to point format, outstanding organisation and iconic West Highland Way route make it a popular choice for runners chasing a major ultra challenge or competing for Scottish championship honours.
