The Haytor Heller is a well established 6 mile fell race on Dartmoor, starting below Haytor Rock and following a challenging single lap route across open moorland. First held in 1986, the event has become a longstanding fixture in the local running calendar.
The completely off road course features rugged terrain, several steep ascents and descents, woodland sections below Hound Tor and Haytor, and a stream crossing. Runners return towards Haytor Rock before a fast downhill run to the finish opposite the middle car park, with a water station near Hound Tor at around four miles.
Organised by Teignbridge Trotters, the race has a limited field and a one hour cut off at Hound Tor. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and free race photos, while refreshments, cakes and a barbecue are available at Race HQ after the run.
