The Hardwolds 40 is a challenging 47 mile ultra marathon that takes runners on an unforgettable journey across the Yorkshire Wolds. Starting in Beverley and finishing in Malton, the route follows the Hudson Way before joining the famous Wolds Way National Trail, passing through rolling chalk hills, picturesque villages and some of Yorkshire's most beautiful countryside.
Along the way, runners travel through historic locations including Goodmanham, Millington, Fridaythorpe, Thixendale and the deserted medieval village of Wharram Percy before descending into Malton for a memorable finish. With around 4,600 feet of ascent and a generous 20 hour cut off, the event offers a demanding but achievable challenge for experienced ultra runners.
Well stocked checkpoints provide food, drinks and support throughout the course, with drop bag facilities available at selected locations to help runners manage their race. Every finisher receives a commemorative medal and finisher's T-shirt, making the Hardwolds 40 a rewarding test of endurance across one of England's finest long distance trails.
