Hadrian's Wall Half Marathon

The Hadrian's Wall Half Marathon is organised by Wild Deer Events and follows a spectacular point to point trail route from Housesteads Roman Fort to Tyne Green Country Park in Hexham, Northumberland. The 13.5 mile race combines challenging trails, Roman history and some of the most distinctive scenery along Hadrian's Wall.

Starting at the World Heritage Site of Housesteads Roman Fort, runners follow the Hadrian's Wall Path for approximately six miles, experiencing historic landscapes and far reaching views across the Northumberland countryside. The route then descends towards Newbrough, passes through woodland and joins the Tyne Riverside Trail Path. The final five miles are predominantly flat as runners make their way towards the finish at Tyne Green Country Park in Hexham.

The point to point format is supported by a shuttle bus service and transported bag drop. Live chip timing records performances, while finishers receive an event T shirt, medal and snack. The race is also canicross friendly, allowing one well controlled dog per runner.

The event supports Heel & Toe Children's Charity, with participants able to make a voluntary donation when entering. Combining Roman heritage, varied trail running and a memorable journey from Hadrian's Wall into Hexham, this is one of Northumberland's most distinctive Half Marathon experiences.
