The Great Wall Marathon takes runners onto one of the world's most famous landmarks, with Marathon, Half Marathon and 8.5K distances held on and around the Huangyaguan section of the Great Wall of China. The course combines steep ascents, descents and thousands of stone steps with sections through the surrounding countryside and local villages.

Widely regarded as one of the most demanding destination races in the world, the event attracts runners from across the globe seeking a unique challenge. The route follows historic sections of the wall, with dramatic changes in elevation and extensive stair climbing forming a defining part of the experience.

The combination of mountain scenery, ancient architecture and challenging terrain creates a race unlike a conventional road marathon. Long stretches on the Great Wall, historic watchtowers and panoramic views across northern China make this one of the most distinctive marathon events on the international running calendar.
