The Grand Union Canal Race is a legendary 145 mile ultra marathon running from Gas Street Basin in Birmingham to Little Venice in London. The non stop point to point route follows the Grand Union Canal towpath almost entirely from start to finish, creating one of the UK’s best known ultra distance endurance challenges.
Known as GUCR, the race combines flat but relentless canal towpaths with long overnight running and strict cut offs across the full 145 mile distance. The event has built a strong reputation within the ultra running community for its endurance challenge, unique atmosphere and historic place in UK ultra marathon running.
