The Gin Pit 5 is a popular 5 mile trail race organised by Astley and Tyldesley Road Runners, taking place around the historic Gin Pit Colliery and surrounding trails near Tyldesley. A long established fixture in the North West running calendar, the race combines industrial heritage with an enjoyable and challenging off road course.
The route follows a series of fast trails through woodland and around the former colliery site, with generally runnable terrain and a demanding climb towards the end of each lap.
