June date for new Northampton 10K

1,000 runners expected at this new race.

A new 10K on closed roads will be music to the ears of runners eagerly awaiting the return of races and an opportunity to push for a PB. Northampton 10K on Sunday 6 June is the place to do so alongside others on a speedy course around the East Midlands market town.

It starts and finishes at Sixfields Stadium, home of EFL League One club, Northampton Town FC aka ‘The Cobblers’. This is an added bonus for any local runner who is also a football fan as they step out past the pitch where their heroes play.

At 9am the field leave the stadium to the claps and cheers of volunteers and spectators and head out along a single-lap course around Northampton. The course is fast and flat with strong PB-potential that will appeal to a club runner targeting a specific time and is equally suited to the runner wanting to take it steady and enjoy the day. All abilities are welcome.

Runners continue through the surrounding areas before returning to the stadium for that all-important dash across the finish line alongside the hallowed turf where a bespoke themed medal and goodies waits for them.

The event is organised by RunThrough on behalf of Northampton Football Club Community Trust, a charity who are active in the local community, helping to improve lives through a range of initiatives.

RunThrough’s goal is for Northampton 10K to become a regular fixture in the summer racing calendar. There is enough about this new race to suggest it will be a ‘must do’ on any runner’s list, the course being one of them.
