Fiona Bradley At The Stone 5

Final call for entries to the Stone 5

There are only a few places left for the Stone 5 on Wednesday 15 May. This charity road race is held on behalf of Lymphoma Action and sold out in its previous two runnings.

Launched in 2017, the Stone 5 Road Race was the brainchild of local photographer Mick Hall, a well-known and respected figure in the area. He was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in that year and after more than six months of treatment, was given the all-clear.

Mick was, and continues to be, very grateful for the support he received from Lymphoma Action throughout his treatment. He wanted to repay them for their support and kindness and drawing upon his experience as a race director, decided to organise a race that was open to everyone irrespective of age or ability.

The Stone 5 has been added to the North Staffs Road Runners Association (NSRRA) programme of races that is popular with local running clubs and attracts a fair degree of competition. Stone 5 entrants can go hard and aim for a PB or take it steady and enjoy the scenery but whatever they choose they will be supporting a worthwhile cause that has helped Mick and many others.

It starts at 7.15pm from Oulton Cricket Club, Stone in Staffordshire where runners will follow a two lap, undulating course around Oulton before finishing back at the Cricket Club. They will be rewarded with a bespoke medal and a free buffet – the latter a perfect way to recover after the ups and downs! There will be free photos courtesy of Mick Hall.
