The Exterminator is a challenging 17 mile fell race starting and finishing at Totley AC Pavilion on the edge of Sheffield. The route heads into the surrounding Peak District landscape, crossing open moorland, woodland, fields, tracks, footpaths and short sections of road, with more than 1,000m of climbing along the way.
Runners face a demanding course with steep climbs, varied underfoot conditions and several checkpoints to visit in the correct order. The route is not fully marked, so navigation is an important part of the race and competitors need to be comfortable finding their way across open fell and moorland terrain.
Traditionally the final race in Totley AC's annual series, the Exterminator is a serious test of endurance, fell running and navigation. Runners are expected to be self sufficient and carry the required kit, with the challenging course rewarded by extensive views across the Peak District.
