The Edinburgh Running Network LP Run is a distinctive timed track event at Meadowmill Sports Centre in Tranent. Inspired by the playing speed of a long play vinyl record, participants have exactly 33â…“ minutes to complete as many laps of the athletics track as possible while running to a soundtrack selected by entrants.
Runners and walkers complete the track at their own pace, with everyone starting and finishing at the same time regardless of the distance covered. Completed laps are counted during the challenge and any partial final lap is measured, creating a format that allows participants of different speeds and abilities to compete together.
Junior 100m and 400m races accompany the main LP Run, providing shorter track events for younger runners. The event is organised by Edinburgh Running Network and has a strong community and fundraising focus, with refreshments, prizes and its distinctive edible finisher medal adding to the occasion.
