Eaton Mess 10K back on the menu again
This picturesque race returns along with lashings of ice cream.
It’s a village affair on Saturday 9 April at the Eaton Mess 10K where once more, runners take to country lanes for a delightful race in an attractive location. There are prizes for the top three men and women and awards for the over 55’s but best of all, every finisher gets a strawberry and cream cone.
The Eaton Mess 10K made its debut on 8 March 2020 – just before the pandemic hit and the country went into lockdown – and went down a treat with everyone involved. No race in 2021 due to Covid-19.
We have a different situation in 2022 with races making a comeback and this includes the Eaton Mess 10K which starts at 10.30am from Church Eaton Cricket Club. All proceeds from the race will be used to improve sports facilities for the women’s and children’s sections of the club.
Club runners, fun runners and those trying the distance for the first time will enjoy the scenic route around the village of Church Eaton – small but perfectly formed - and home to the 12th Century St Editha’s church and the famous scarecrow festival.
All runners are advised to bring their own drinks in case there is no water station.
There are trophies for the winners, medals and goody bags for all finishers and everyone’s favourite, Eaton Mess ice cream. Follow that with homemade cake and a hot or cold drink to round off the day.
