The Dragon's Back Race is one of the world's most iconic mountain ultra marathons, taking runners on a six day journey the length of Wales. Starting beneath the walls of Conwy Castle and finishing at Cardiff Castle, the event follows the mountainous spine of the country across some of its most demanding landscapes.
The full course covers approximately 380 kilometres with around 17,400 metres of ascent. Participants navigate through the mountains of Eryri, Mid Wales and the Brecon Beacons, carrying essential kit while tackling challenging terrain each day. Alternative Hatchling, Tail and Fire course options allow more runners to experience sections of this legendary event.
The Dragon's Back Race is a true bucket list challenge for experienced mountain runners. Combining self navigation, sustained endurance and spectacular scenery, it has earned a reputation as one of the toughest and most prestigious multi day ultra marathons in the world.
