Dirt Run

Double The Dirt

Why limit yourself to one dirt run, when you can have twice the muddy fun?

Many of you will have previously experienced the mud and mayhem of Northamptonshire's popular Dirt Run, but now can you take on twice the mire! This year organisers will be extending the Irchester Country Park-based Dirt Run to a second venue at Brigstock Country Park as part of a long-term vision to eventually create a Go Beyond Dirt Run series.

The original Dirt Run is a multi-terrain race, with a choice of three distances: 5K, 10K or 15K. It is run either uphill or downhill each year, bringing a different challenge every time to runners taking part.

The Irchester edition is due to return this weekend (19 January) with spots still available. The event takes place in the stunning surroundings of the country park and combines fun and distances for all levels with the test of taking on the muddy conditions a winter trail event brings.

The Brigstock edition is planned for 23 February and will include 7.5K and 15K distances. The route will follow the Lyveden Way national trail, with runners treated to a stunning glimpse of the captivating Elizabethan Lodge, Lyveden New Bield, nestled in the midst of some beautiful Northamptonshire countryside.

Surrounded by incredible gardens, wildflower meadows and tranquil water features, Lyvden combines history and serene, timeless beauty. The runners will experience an enchanting landscape, with sweeping views that showcase this hidden gem in all its glory.

Speaking about the decision to expand into a new location, organisers said: "We couldn’t resist adding a second Dirt Run to our race roster – and so, the Brigstock Dirt Run has been born. Fundamentally we want to create a Dirt Run series but before we can do that we need your backing for our current events.

"I love the Dirt Run. It is huge fun and I know everyone who takes part in it always enjoys the event. So please, if you love it as much as I do, help us keep pushing ourselves forward and keep people running through the dirt of Irchester and beyond!"
