Darwen Tough 10K is organised by Darwen Dashers Running Club and offers a shorter taste of the challenging terrain associated with the club's established Darwen Half Marathon.
Starting and finishing at Blacksnape Playing Fields, the anti clockwise route initially follows part of the Darwen Half Marathon course towards Bull Hill. Runners then leave the Half Marathon route for a section using trail and path before rejoining it on Blacksnape Road for the return towards the finish.
The course packs significant climbing into its 10K distance and rewards runners with extensive views from the higher sections around Darwen. With a mixture of road, trail and path, this is designed as a testing race rather than a conventional fast road 10K.
The race is directed by Darwen Dashers and forms part of the club's programme of local running events.
