Punk Panther Christmas Cracker is a festive trail running event starting in Otley, West Yorkshire, with three routes exploring the surrounding countryside. The courses head towards the Washburn Valley, passing through woodland, moorland and hillside trails, with sweeping views towards the Yorkshire Dales.
Runners can choose from 12 mile and 19 mile trail races or a challenging 32 mile ultramarathon. Each route includes substantial climbing, with approximately 1,700, 2,200 and 3,400 feet of ascent respectively. The unmarked courses require navigation using maps or GPX files, while checkpoints provide refreshments. GPS trackers are supplied to ultra runners, with optional hire for shorter distances.
Festive fancy dress is encouraged, with prizes for the best costumes alongside race awards. Finishers receive a medal and event T-shirt unless they opt out, with homemade hot food, drinks and mince pies at the finish. The mix of demanding winter trails and seasonal celebrations makes Christmas Cracker a distinctive end to the running year.
