The Chiltern Wonderland 50 is a 50 mile trail ultramarathon starting and finishing in the riverside village of Goring on Thames. The single loop journeys through the Chiltern Hills, linking historic villages, rolling countryside and landmarks across this scenic part of southern England.
Runners follow a predominantly trail course with around 5,600ft of ascent, using sections of the Thames Path, Chiltern Way and Ridgeway. The route passes through locations including Bix, Stonor, Turville and Christmas Common, with a varied mix of runnable trails, short steep climbs, descents and valleys. Around 80% of the course is on trail, making this a challenging but largely runnable ultra.
The course is fully marked, so no navigation is required, and runners are supported by five well stocked aid stations and dedicated medical cover throughout the race. A 13 hour overall cut off applies, with additional cut offs along the route, and every successful finisher receives a medal after completing the loop back to Goring.
