Chariots of Fire is a six person charity relay through Cambridge city centre and several of the University’s historic colleges. Teams compete across a range of categories, with the race starting and finishing on Queens’ Green and each runner completing one leg before handing the baton to their next teammate.
Each leg follows an approximately 2 mile closed road route through central Cambridge and the grounds of participating University colleges. Every team member completes the same circuit, giving a total team distance of approximately 12 miles, with the relay format placing the emphasis on both individual running and the combined team performance.
The event has been part of Cambridge’s running calendar for many years and raises funds for a selected charity through team entries and fundraising. Male, female, mixed, super veteran and college team categories provide several ways to take part, while all runners share the same city centre course and relay changeover format.
