The Cambridgeshire Elements Series Water Run is a flexible timed running event at Regatta Meadow and Riverside Park in St Neots. Part of Phoenix Running's Elements Series, the event uses a 5.3K out and back course around the park and alongside the River Great Ouse, allowing participants to choose anything from a single lap to an ultra distance.
Runners follow a relatively flat route across footpaths and grass with minimal elevation gain or loss, making the course suitable for a wide range of abilities. Participants can build towards 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon or ultra distances by completing repeated laps, with no requirement to decide their final distance before starting. Runners can simply continue for as many or as few laps as they wish within the event time limit.
The flexible format allows runners to set their own challenge and adjust their target according to how they feel on the day. A flexible start window reduces the pressure of reaching a traditional fixed start time, while the repeated course creates a friendly atmosphere around the event base. Every participant completing at least one lap is considered a finisher and receives a bespoke event medal.
