The Bude Pirate Run is a challenging trail race exploring the coast and countryside around Bude in North Cornwall. Covering approximately 8 miles, the hilly route starts and finishes around Crooklets and Maer Down and forms part of the Cornwall Multi Terrain Race Series.
Runners encounter a varied course that is predominantly off road, using sections of coast path, open fields and wooded trails alongside a few short stretches of road. Hills feature throughout and wet weather can make parts of the course slippery and muddy, adding to the challenge. Two water stations provide support around the route, with additional water available at the finish.
Organised by Bude Rats and held under a Trail Running Association licence, the Pirate Run combines competitive racing with a friendly local atmosphere. Runners are rewarded with impressive coastal scenery along the way and a traditional post race pasty after reaching the finish, making it a distinctive fixture on Cornwall's trail running calendar.
