Box Hill Vertical KM is a guided trail running challenge organised by Running Adventures in the Surrey Hills near Dorking. Led by an experienced trail running guide, the event focuses on tackling steep climbs and exploring lesser known trails around Box Hill.
The 12.5 mile route accumulates approximately 1,000 metres of elevation gain through woodland, heathland and open fields. Runners encounter demanding ascents, technical trails and occasional scrambling, with the route designed to maximise climbing without repeating the same hill. The group maintains a steady pace, with opportunities to regroup after challenging sections.
Unlike a conventional race, the event focuses on shared experience, hill fitness and developing confidence on demanding terrain. It is particularly suited to runners preparing for mountainous trail events or looking to improve their climbing ability, with an experienced guide leading the route throughout.
