The Ben Nevis Race is one of the world's most famous hill races, taking runners from Fort William to the summit of Ben Nevis and back. First held in the nineteenth century and organised annually since 1951, the event is regarded as one of the UK's classic mountain running challenges.

The approximately 14K route climbs 1,345 metres to the summit of Britain's highest mountain before descending the same route back to Claggan Park. Open only to experienced hill runners, the race demands excellent mountain fitness, sound judgement and the ability to cope with rapidly changing weather conditions.

The Ben Nevis Race is a bucket list event for mountain runners, combining rich history with one of the toughest ascent and descent challenges in British hill running. Its iconic route, spectacular Highland setting and long standing tradition continue to attract elite and experienced competitors from across the UK and beyond.
