The Barcelona half marathon has been moved from its usual slot in February to the month of October, keeping its role as the lead-in to the Zurich Marató Barcelona, which is scheduled for 7 November. It will also be a useful test for everyone who signs up for both races.
The 30th edition of the eDreams Mitja Marató de Barcelona took place on 16 February and was a huge success. A record-breaking 23,000 runners had a blast in one of the best half marathons in the world. The race attracted over 10,000 athletes from abroad (45%) and 7,500 women (32.6%).
It is a World Athletics Gold Label event (the highest distinction for road races) with an ideal course for chasing and setting new personal bests. Suffice it to mention that 48 athletes ran the half marathon in under 1 h 05′ and 134 in under 1 h 10′.
