The Arrochar Alps Hill Race is one of Scotland's classic long hill races, taking experienced mountain runners on a demanding 25K circuit over four of the Arrochar Alps' iconic Munros. Starting near Arrochar, the route climbs Ben Vorlich, Ben Vane, Beinn Ime and Beinn Narnain before returning to the finish after an unforgettable day in the mountains.
Beginning at sea level, the race quickly heads into Glen Loin before tackling steep ascents, technical descents and extensive sections of pathless mountain terrain. With around 2,400 metres of climbing, competitors must be confident navigating in remote conditions and capable of moving safely across rugged ground in all weather.
The event is intended for experienced hill runners and follows Scottish Hill Runners championship rules, with mandatory kit, navigation requirements and strict checkpoint cut off times in place. Combining breathtaking scenery with one of the toughest mountain courses in the country, the Arrochar Alps Hill Race is regarded as a true test of endurance, skill and mountain craft.
