Acorn South By Five visits Pollok Park for the fourth race in its winter series, bringing runners to one of Glasgow's best known green spaces. Inspired by the South Side Six, the series features six individual 5K races across parks in the city's south side, with runners able to enter each event separately.
The Pollok Park course takes runners onto woodland trails and park paths, with muddy sections and changing gradients adding to the challenge. The established route includes sections through the park's rhododendron trails and a climb towards the Nature Pond, followed by downhill stretches. It's a varied 5K for runners who enjoy getting off the tarmac during the winter months.
South By Five has a strong community focus, with participants who complete five of the six races earning the title of Fiver. Entry supports the Acorn Trails Community Fund, which helps develop grassroots sport and maintain local trails, while the series also supports local charity Give A Dog A Bone and encourages runners to contribute to foodbank collections.
