3 Islands Marathon is a point to point road race through the Southern Isles of the Outer Hebrides, with options to compete individually, as a pair or as part of a relay team.
The officially measured and Scottish Athletics certified course starts at Lochboisdale Marina on Gasay before heading through South Uist and onwards to Benbecula. Runners cross the causeways connecting the islands while experiencing an exposed Hebridean landscape of coastline, open countryside and distant hills.
The finish is at the Dark Island Hotel on Benbecula, completing a distinctive journey through several island communities. For team entries, the marathon route is divided into four relay sections.
Its remote location and island to island format make this an unusual road marathon, combining the challenge of the distance with the scenery and character of the Outer Hebrides.
