Following on from the success of Shrewsbury 10K, organisers are launching Shrewsbury’s inaugural 5k as part of Shrewsbury’s first Running Festival. With a grand start/ finish in the Quarry Park, Shrewsbury, the fast course is suitable for all abilities with professional chip timing, bespoke medals and running buff for all competitors. Whether you are from Shrewsbury and surrounding areas or from further afield, then you’ll be sure to enjoy this race.
The wave starts will allow runners to enjoy this fast, scenic course and ensure that the festival atmosphere will be in full swing. Starting and finishing at the iconic blue gates in the Quarry Park, its a downhill start towards Hercules statue, taking a left and running along Victoria Avenue enjoying views of the river as we head out under the English Bridge out the Shrewsbury Weir. Here we will turn back and head back into the town park for a flat, fast finish along the tree-lined avenue with great support from spectators.
The Saturday of the Running Festival also includes a 2K team relay (8+) and a charity 1 Mile time trial (5+)
