FeldyRoo Needs You!
New parkrun coming to Perthshire in the New Year...
A new parkrun is being planned for Aberfeldy and organisers have been holding practice events to make sure things run smoothly when it gets underway properly in the New Year. Some 88 runners took part on one of the unofficial test events on 16 November at the town's FeldyRoo Fitness Trail and it was a resounding success.
FeldyRoo Fitness Trail is the latest project from the community group set up to help Aberfeldy locals during lockdown. It is a beautiful one mile walkway, on the banks of River Tay and is accessible for all.
Speaking about the new parkrun, a spokesperson said: "We want to do these trial dates to give our volunteers live experience of hosting the event. The success of the two test events gives us the confidence that we can make this work as a regular event in the New Year, subject to receiving official parkrun UK approval.
"Please drop us a message if you would like to help out at future events and we will add your details to our ever growing list. A great way to be involved if you don't fancy the 5K walk/run every Saturday!"
To keep the momentum going 'til the official start date in the spring (all going well) those behind the scenes plan to host a monthly event through winter on 14 December, 11 January and 8 February. Organisers say: "We will give you a reminder of these dates nearer the time but keep them in the diary as these practice events have been brilliant preperation for our team and judging by the happy faces on camera, enjoyable mornings all round!"
