Barcelona 'San Silvestre' 10K
The Spanish really enjoy their San Silvestre run on New Year's Eve - for many it is the start of their festive holiday

The course is as flat as you can get, and along the wide boulevards of Barcelona. Starting near the Marina area at dusk, it is just 10 minutes before you are running in darkness. Not a problem here on the wide roads with great street lighting. You run up to the Arc de Triomf, and then head down 'Diagonal', perhaps the best known of Barcelona's boulevards, to the sea front. Then it is along the seaside road for 3K, turning right near Port Olympic and doubling back to the finish. This is an ideal course for a PB.
