News - Sheffield Set To Smash Records

Sheffield HalfWith a change in route allowing for an increase in numbers, Sunday's Sheffield half marathon looks set to be the biggest yet with an estimated 7,300 runners taking to the city's streets. This figure represents a massive upturn in the 2011 event, in which 4,500 runners completed the race. After selling the initial entry quota of 5,500 three months before this year's race, organisers decided to lift the entry limit by making slight alterations to the course.

Poll ImageThe question of 'Where to run?' is an interesting one. Some people love to do their training in a dry indoor setting, while others long for the days of cooling rain to pound the pavements or hit the trails.

The leading choice this week is to run on the streets, with 48.6% of the vote. The next most popular choice is to run in the countryside, with 22% of the vote, and urban trails come in third this week with 18.3%.
