Political controversy came to scottishrunningguide.com when a site visitor commented on our story about Lib Dem MP Jo Swinson's preparations for London Marathon. Lisa Martin is unimpressed by Jo Swinson's parliamentary voting record and said: "She will run faster when chased by a bunch of students who are protesting about her vote in favour of tuition fees."

Runtalk - The Running Bug
Regular contributor Chris Broadbent takes a light-hearted look at the running bug...
There's no known cure, it's highly contagious and those who are most riddled with it are often the healthiest. It's the running bug of course. I caught it about eight years ago when I found myself working for a sports organisation.
Poll - What Is Your Target For 2011?
This month we have been asking you what your target is for 2011.
Almost a third of you said "Getting a PB at your favourite distance" with a further 20% saying "Completing a half marathon", and a similar number aiming to "Complete a full marathon". Nearly 10% were hoping to "Start running regularly".
Good luck to everyone with those aspirations! Next week starts a new month and a new poll, and with more events appearing on the Race Listings as spring unfolds, we've decided to ask you what your favourite post-race treat is. Look out for the poll starting next week!

Up And Coming Races
The focus moves to Fife this weekend where around 250 participants will contest the Cupar 5 which has a 3.00pm start time (registration from 1.00pm at the YMCA). Great value at £7 (£5 for affiliates) and promises of a fast course on quiet roads and a traditional Fife AC post-race tea.
March starts with a bang and Saturday, March 5 sees the re-arranged Nigel Barge 10K and the Exercise March Hare 5K - both events in Glasgow and the Falkland Flyer trail race in Fife. The following day, Sunday, has race action at Arbroath (Smokies 10 mile), Lasswade (10 miles), Nairn (10K) and Annan River Race (cross country). So a great selection of events across the width and breath of Scotland next weekend.
Check out scottishrunningguide.com for pre-race updates and results, or to add your own race's details to our listings by signing up as a race organiser.
