News - Judo Star To Kickstart Scottish HalfOne of Britain’s most successful judo stars, Gemma Gibbons, will officially start the Scottish Half Marathon on Saturday 6 September. The 27-year-old stunned the world when she won a surprise silver medal at London 2012 and delivered a world class performance at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games to secure her second silver. You don’t have to be barking to take part in Saturday’s Ruff Dugger, but it helps. The event is Scotland's first obstacle/mud trail run for runners with dogs and features a technical, muddy, off track route. Sunday sees the inaugural Barry Buddon Half Marathon held at Barry Buddon military taining area, which hosted the Commonwealth Games' shooting events. Participants will be relieved to know that that the only shooting on the day will be the starter's pistol.
