McConaugheyIt seems the Matthew McConaughey craze will hit the running world with news that the actor has agreed to star in the adaptation of Christopher McDougall’s iconic text, Born to Run. McConaughey seems to be well suited for the role having completed the Nautica Malibu Triathlon.

Our video of the week is the Wings For Life World Run Flash Mob in Battersea Park. It features a series of unsuspecting runners being caught off-guard during their mid-morning run, as they're greeted by crowds of cheering fans jumping out from all areas of London's Battersea Park.

Chilly conditions await runners this weekend with temperatures throughout the country dropping below freezing. Reading 5 Mile returns for a sixth year on Sunday. The two-lap course is run in and around the University of Reading Campus and is an ideal means of warming up or tapering down ahead of next month's Reading Half Marathon.

On the subject of half marathons, there are two 13.1-mile events this weekend with both Deal, Kent and Great Bentley, North Essex hosting races.
