News - Farah Relishing Glasgow Return

Farah will return to Glasgow on Saturday 12 July to compete over two miles at the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix at Hampden Park. The 31-year-old, who set a 1500m stadium record at the Kelvin Hall last time he was in the city, says he’s looking forward to competing in the event and is also relishing the prospect of running at the Commonwealth Games.

News - Scottish Gas 10K and 5K Cancelled

This year’s Scottish Gas Edinburgh 10K and 5K has been cancelled, organisers have announced. In a statement issued via Edinburgh AC’s website, the race committee said a number of factors contributed to the decision.

Runtalk - Having Eyes For You

For the sighted runner, the idea of running – much less racing – with a significant or total loss of vision is hard to grasp. We count on our eyesight to get us across the street safely, focus on the finish line and draw inspiration from the world around us. But for Hazel McFarlane, ultrarunner and president of Troon Tortoises, losing her sight completely was actually a bit of a relief.

Island running takes centre stage this weekend with the Isle of Arran and Harris Half Marathons both being held. The Harris Half gives participants spectacular views of some of the world's most beautiful sandy beaches, starting at Borve Lodge and running along the coastline. The isle of Arran Half features an undulating course, going along the public roads on the west coast of the island. Back on the mainland there's Stonehaven Half Marathon which also includes a team relay and 1K Fun Run.

Strathclyde parkrun is cancelled until 9 August due to parking being restricted during the Commonwealth Games.
